The Great Wall Of China

1. The Chinese emperor Ying Chang was 13 when he became emperor.
2. His mom wanted to kill him so her stepson could take the throne. (When Ying Chang found out, he banished his mother and killed his stepbrothers. )
3. When Ying Chang was older, he changed his name to Shi Huandi.
4. Shi Huandi ordered construction on the Great Wall to keep out invaders.
5. Over 1 million people worked on the Great Wall and 25% of them died. (After they died, they were put into the morter and buried in the wall. One of the Great Wall’s nicknames is the long graveyard.)
6. The Great Wall of China was 3,000 miles long.
7. Shi Huandi started building a tomb that he designed when he was 13.
8. To guard his tomb, he had thousands of terra-cotta warriors in ditches by his tomb.
9. After Shi Huandi’s tomb was built, he had a mountain put on top of it. (They say when the mountian was finished it was as tall as the pyramids of Giza.)
10. The tomb is said to hold rivers of mercury. (They won’t open it up until they have the technology.)
Those are 10 things that I learned from watching that video. Did you learn anything from this?
